Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 15, 2026
Botanisht ("the App") is a local-first gardening companion developed by Roy Abernathy. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the App collects and how it is handled.
The short version
Botanisht does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. Everything you enter — plants, care logs, preferences, your optional garden ZIP code — is stored locally on your device and never leaves it.
Data stored on your device
- Plants you add to your garden, their care history, and health status.
- App preferences (theme, units, temperature scale).
- An optional 5-digit U.S. ZIP code you may enter to receive severe-weather advisories for your garden. This is stored locally only.
All of this data lives in a local database (Isar) on your device. Deleting the app deletes the data. We have no access to it, and there is no account system and no cloud synchronization.
Data not collected
- No account, email, or phone number is required.
- No location services / GPS. The optional ZIP code is entered manually.
- No advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs, or tracking of any kind.
- No purchase history. Pro is unlocked on the honor system and any donation is processed entirely by Buy Me a Coffee — we never see your payment details.
Permissions
- Notifications (Android): optional, used only for local care reminders and weather advisories you opt into. Permission can be revoked anytime in system settings.
- Internet: used only to fetch public severe-weather advisories when you have entered a ZIP code, and to load plant reference images from the catalog.
Children's privacy
The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
